Why Can't I Get Well? (Part 2)

If you have a chronic autoimmune disorder, your Triple Warmer and Spleen energies are quite likely to be severely out of balance. Since these energies are dedicated to supporting and mobilizing your immune system, this is not good. I've talked about this in my Free Resources section ("Sedating Dr. Strangelove"). But I'd like to expand on it here. Triple Warmer in particular is always on the lookout for the answer to one question of vital importance to your immune system. The Single Most Important Question for Triple Warmer: Are you safe or are you under attack? If the answer is that you're under attack, Triple warmer mobilizes you for fight or flight. So how does Triple Warmer determine that you're in danger? One factor that puts your early warning system on the alert is being in the presence of something alien. Keep in mind that your Triple Warmer energy circuit has evolved for thousands upon thousands of years. It got used to dangerous animals, poisonous plants and other physical threats to watch out for. Triple Warmer learned to mobilize all the other energies toward fight or flight when danger appeared. But for the last hundred years or so, Triple Warmer has been encountering some pretty strange stuff! The average person encounters thousands of chemicals a day that didn't exist even a hundred years ago. This means that Triple Warmer is being alerted continuously to the presence of unknown substances interacting with our bodies in strange and unusual ways. Unlike, say, a dangerous animal, most of these substances aren't even in our conscious awareness. So fight or flight aren't even options. Triple Warmer doesn't begin to know how to deal with these new threats and enters a state of continual low-grade panic. Now something comes along that starts tipping the balance... Maybe you have a traumatic experience that doesn't get resolved. Maybe you don't know how to let go of the stresses involved in a demanding job, and they build and build each day. Maybe you were born just a little more sensitive to toxic substances, or to toxic emotions, than the average person. The balance tips. Triple Warmer goes from orange alert to red alert, and is now in a permanent state of extreme emergency. It sees everything in sight as a threat, to be attacked. And this includes the enemy within. Your autoimmune system takes its cue from Triple Warmer. It starts attacking anything that moves - including its own forces. And now things really get bad. The Spleen circuit's job is to see to it every aspect of your immune system is receiving the energy it needs to be fully nourished and thrive. But when there's a virulent outside threat, all resources must be harnessed to fend off the attackers. After all, what use is nourishment if you're dead? Only - there is no virulent threat. But now, your immune system is not only attacking itself. It's using up the energy it would ordinarily use to nourish and strengthen you for that attack! And you're wondering why you can't get well. So - How do you calm down your Inner Attack Dog and resurrect your Inner Mom? There are actually a number of ways to rebalance your Triple Warmer and Spleen energies. This is an easy, comfortable and effective technique you can use on yourself. The Steps 1. Wrap your right hand around the left side of your body, with your fingers beneath your underarm. When you do this, your fingers will be lying across a Spleen acupressure point. Don'tworry if you're not sure exactly where this is. As long as all your fingers are lined up beneath your underarm, you'll be on it. 2. Wrap your left hand around your right arm with your middle finger pressing the indent just above your right elbow. When you do this, your finger will be lightly pressing into a Tripler Warmer acupressure point. 3. Be still or gently rock while in this position for at least the duration of three deep breaths, or up to two minutes. More is not better when doing this - it can be overdone. So do NOT do this for more than two minutes per side. 4. Repeat on the other side. Do this once a day several times a week, at least, or every day. Try it now!
